february :: Online workshop series :: Breathing and Pranayama building the practices of breath
ONLINE Learn the foundations of yogic pranayama practice. Each session will include an informational lecture, a period of practice, and a pranayama practice for the week. At the end, you will have a plan to develop your own pranayama practice for 1-2 years. Saturdays in February 2025 10am – 12pm Central Time

All sessions held on Zoom. All sessions are recorded. Workshop materials including handouts and recording links are provided.
SESSION 1 :: Saturday, February 1st Breathing mechanics & breathing exercises We will begin with fundamentals of how to breathe and offer a handful of breathing exercises to build the right strength and focus. SESSION 2 :: Saturday, February 8th Nervous system & alternate nostril Learn how breathing affects the nervous system and how to control it. This can bring energy, relaxation or balance. We will teach Alternate Nostril, one of the central practices of yogic pranayama, as well as Surya and Chandraved. SESSION 3 :: Saturday, February 15th Slowing the breath The essence of yogic pranayama is slowing and stopping the breath. We will explore why this is important and the effects on the body and mind. Practice and learn how to lengthen the breath safely. SESSION 4 :: Saturday, February 22nd How to practice We will learn how to design a pranayama practice that will take us through the next year.
