ONLINE The spine is the center of the body, controlled and moved by muscles on the front and back. When we understand how to hold and move the spine, many things get easier, including standing, sitting, breathing, and yoga postures. In this workshop series, we will explore the actions and functions of the spine and abdomen, including backward bending, forward bending, side bending and twisting.
Saturdays in October 10am – 12pm CST
***Eligible for 8 hours of CE for OHYA and YA.***
SESSION 1 :: Saturday, October 2 Bending the spine backward Use the three parts of the spine to bend backward. Explore the anatomical elements of the spine, muscles and organs that are affected by backbending. Learn the therapeutic, functional and energetic effects of backbending.
SESSION 2 :: Saturday, October 9 Bending the spine forward Forward bending happens due to abdominal contraction. Explore the mechanics of forward bending as well as the impact on the nervous system and internal organs.
SESSION 3 :: Saturday, October 16 Twisting & Side Bending Twisting and side bending are more complex and less powerful than forward and backward bending.
